Dr. Nicholas Spaccarelli, DVM

Dr. Nick Spaccarelli was born and raised in the Hudson Valley. He went to SUNY Delhi where he received a degree as a veterinary technician. He later attended Purdue University and continued on to Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. In 2007, Dr. Spaccarelli returned to the Hudson Valley to begin working in private practice and to pursue his professional interests in surgery, rehabilitation and pain management in pets that have chronic issues In 2011, he returned to Ross University as a faculty member and clinician at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. After three years on the island of St. Kitts, Dr. Spaccarelli returned to the Hudson Valley to fulfill his lifelong dream of practice ownership. He brings over 10 years of small animal experience to The Beacon Vet. He is excited to be adding orthopedic surgery and chronic pain management to a long list of advanced offerings at the practice. Dr. Spaccarelli resides in Hopewell Junction with his wife Megan and their two daughters Mackenzie and Madison.  They have a dog named Marshall that they rescued along with two Red Footed Tortoises named Harry and Sally. He is an avid traveler and has been to Europe, Australia, Canada, the Caribbean and Central America. His passions include surfing, stand up paddle boarding, fishing, hiking, cooking and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Bethany Souers, DVM

Dr. Bethany Souers is a graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. She learned of her innate love for animals at the age of 6 when her family welcomed their first puppy. She went on to achieve her Bachelor in Science from Cornell University. Over the years Dr. Souers has participated in volunteer organizations including the Hudson Valley Raptor Center, the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Colorado, and a research expedition in South Africa near Kruger National Park. Since achieving her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2009, Dr. Souers has practiced small animal medicine in Vermont and Maine. She enjoys all aspects of general practice, with special interest in dentistry, surgery, and radiology. Dr. Souers now returns to her native NY roots here in the Hudson Valley and continues to learn, and love, the art of helping to enrich the lives of her patients and the families they represent. Dr. Souers embraces the companionship of 5 rescues: 3 wonderful dogs and 2 independent tabby cats.

Dr. Sara Martens, DVM

Dr. Sara Martens is originally from Rochester, Michigan. She spent a lot of time in Florida, volunteering at wild life sanctuaries and a marine rescue/research facility prior to deciding on a career in veterinary medicine. She earned her doctorate through Ross University and spent a year at Purdue University completing her clinical studies. Since that time, Dr. Martens has worked in several areas of NY State including Pittsfield, Poughkeepsie and now Newburgh. In her free time she enjoys running and hiking in the woods near her house in Accord, NY with her husband and their dog “Worf”.
